“It’s been a good journey. I’m delighted I met Geoff and Robyn and took the OrthoED course. They’re both very helpful and approachable. Geoff has a messaging system where you can leave voice messages and ask questions, and the advice comes back straight away. It’s very handy.” With increased revenue, along with the ability to handle more orthodontic cases in-house instead of having to refer patients to other orthodontists, Abhi’s practice is going from strength to strength. “Patients love having orthodontic treatment from us, as it’s easier than having to visit a separate orthodontist. They already know, like and trust us, so they prefer it.” After turning his back on orthodontics for several years, Dr Abhinav Sharma from Calton Hill Dental reveals how OrthoED provided him with the knowledge, support and confidence to take on new cases and add approx $90,000 in fixed braces treatments over an 8 month period. 8 months since he finished the OrthoED course, Abhi has successfully completed 15 cases for fixed braces, each worth approx $6,000. He’s even started taking on more complex cases since. “Before OrthoED, I had no hands-on experience of orthodontics. I had done the Invisalign course, but there were a few problems with it.” Abhi explains. “It felt more like a walkthrough of the software and how the treatment was going to look on a computer, rather than real life, hands-on examples and techniques to plan each case properly, foresee any problems and deliver the best outcomes for the patient.” The OrthoED difference. $90,000 in additional revenue within 8 months. With other courses, Abhi explains how there was no guidance or hands-on support after the Invisalign course was complete. “I only had basic orthodontic training from university. I didn’t feel confident. That’s why I didn’t do any cases and I turned my back on orthodontics for years,” he adds. Lack of guidance. “The tutor, Dr Geoff Hall, is by your side when you take up a case and reviews your treatment planning with you, which means you can feel more confident in proceeding with each case.” As a result, Abhi was confident enough to start taking on new fixed braces treatments before completing the OrthoED training. In fact, he was taking up cases just 2 modules into the program. The confidence to take on new cases.
