GAP Australasian-Dentist-May June 2019
Category 80 AustrAlAsiAn Dentist Full upper and lower duplicate dentures using the Vertysystem Furbo By Dr Andréa Meneghini, Stefano Mazzarella, Dental technician and Angelo Di Franco , Demonstrator for Australia Clinical stages the full denture set up was done in wax. After try- in and approval by the patient and the dentist, we processed the case following the Verty technique. the technique is straight forward but requires care and precision. the procedure should be followed exactly to ensure optimal results. STEP 1 High security fluid silicone application this first, wash layer of silicone material was applied carefully. High security fluid is a fine and precise silicone, but it can break, so care must be taken. it preserves fine details such as neck and gingival sculpting. this first layer is similar to the light body used for taking an impression in the mouth. STEP 2 Application of Vertys orange plus silicone A second silicone was then applied over the first. Vertys Orange Plus is a more flexible silicone it is not designed to pre serve fine details, but is used to fill the flask. it must be applied with care to ensure good bonding with the high security silicone. lInICal Wax up Detailed wax finishing the wax finishing was done with great care. the finish will affect the result because the tools and the silicone material that we used offer the most exact re production of the tiniest sculpted details of the wax up. this technique requires the use of silicone material rather than plaster. Deflasking is fast and the polishing time is greatly reduced, which increases productivity in the lab. Case presentation the patient was fully edentulous. His requested a full upper and lower denture with an identical second set of full dentures in order to ensure that he would n ever be without them (in case of breakage, loss etc.) this straightforward lab case featured the new aspect of producing a duplicate restoration, which was interesting for the dentist and the technician. the patient was also very satisfied with the results. For this case, excel injection acrylic was indicated, as only this injection system offered the possibility of making a duplicate denture. excel acrylic cures at a fairly low temperature (50°C) and can be pressed or injected. the latter option was chosen for this case. this case was done in italy by Dr Meneghini and stefano Mazzarella , Dental technician. liebmann laboratory is a Verty pilot lab, and we would like to share our experience of working with the Furbo and the product range developed to optimise the technique.
