Our cocktail party on the Friday night was hosted by our special guest and international business woman, Naomi Simson – founder of RedBallon. She was kind enough to share many inspiring stories and really provide insight as to what it takes to manage successful business in 2020! She was also kind enough to sign more than 30 copies of her books which she gave out to delegates! On the night we also honoured Dr Steven Semaan, Dr Tony Weir and Dr John Hagiliassis for their dedication and excellence in progressing the field of aligner therapy in Australasia. Asmall number of dedicated enthusiasts woke up in the early hours to do an ACAS group yoga session, and the day continued with more high quality lectures. Lunchtime saw the second annual “ACAS Scan off” where we try and find the quickest intra-oral scanner by making delegates compete with each-other scanning a printed dental model. Our inaugural winner in 2019 was the PrimeScan, and this year it was the Trios 4! Congratulations to Dr Matthew Youssef on winning the inaugural ACAS2020 Kesling Award. The Kesling award was run by ACAS by asking our delegates to submit their finished clear aligner cases. Our panel of experts (Dr Steven Semaan, Dr Tony Weir, Prof James Mah and Prof Ali Darendeliler) viewed the top 10 delegates submitted aligner cases and graded them – with Dr Youssef case unanimously chosen in a close contest.
