Clear Idea #3
20 www.acasociety.com | info@acasociety.com is quite incredible how the price point for CAD/CAM scanners has dropped over the years, and this is beneficial for all dental professionals worldwide as it will enable more adoption for those worried about the initial investment cost. For those who are looking for a low-cost scanner, Medit i500 should be something you consider. cheaper than the CEREC and TRIOS and also boasts no subscription fees (unless you sign up for their premium cloud storage). The scanner really does impress in many ways and we have to try hard to find aspects we do not like about it. It is not as technologically advanced or fast as the CEREC Primescan, and it does not have the vast software ecosystem and functionality of the TRIOS 4, but what it does do is scan, and it does it well for a cheap cost. We can see the clear merits of the Medit i500 when compared to other scanners as a stand-alone scanner option and the i500 will likely be an attractive option for those who have no interest in in-house CAD/CAM. It Itero Element 5D Align Technology is a leader in clear aligner orthodontics, creators of the widely popular Invisalign system. As a direct result, the iTero scanners have been seen for a long time as the “Invisalign scanners”. With their latest scanner release, there seems to be push for the Element 5D to be seen as a full range scanner for diagnostics, CAD/CAM and aligners much like the competition, rather than just an Invisalign tool. The Element 5D is a unique and innovative scanner. The main aspect that impresses us is the imaging capabilities. The Element 5D is the first intraoral scanner with near-infrared imaging (NIRI) technology. This function can be used as a diagnostic aid for the detection of interproximal and smooth surface carious lesions. The Element 5D is also the only scanner that simultaneously records 3D scans, intraoral 2D color images and NIRI images in one scan. It’s great to see Itero innovate and bring something new to the market. TheElement5Dalsobuildsonthesuccess of the orthodontic Outcome Simulator. In
