34 AUSTRALASIAN DENTIST EVENTS International implant surgeon and educator Dr Tomasz Kaczynski has a direct message for Australian dentists sitting on the fence about full arch rehabilitation: every year you wait is a year of missed opportunities. ere is a particular frustration familiar to dentists who have built solid implant skills but still nd themselves referring out the cases they most want to treat. Full arch rehabilitation sits just beyond reach – not for lack of ambition, but for lack of a structured pathway to get there safely. It is a gap the Australasian Implant Academy (AIA) was founded to close, and one its Fellowship 3 – Full Arch course, scheduled for Sydney in September 2026, addresses directly. Leading that intake is Dr Tomasz Kaczynski – a board-certi ed Periodontist, PhD researcher, and full arch specialist based in Warsaw, Poland. A faculty member for ORCAA (Operation Re-dentulate Central America Association) and former board member of the Polish Society of Periodontology, he specialises in full arch dental implants, bone regeneration, and soft tissue grafting, and has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles. For Australian dentists ready to make the move, his involvement is a signi cant drawcard. In my experience with complications and revision cases, I’ve often seen situations where the outcome was compromised from the very beginning due to inadequate planning.” Fellowship 3 is built around this insight. “We’ll start with treatment planning before moving into the surgical phase. en, step by step, we’ll guide you through both surgical and restorative work ows. Finally, we’ll focus on managing complications and ensuring long-term maintenance.” It is a sequence that mirrors the real arc of a full arch case – and one designed to prevent the failures Dr Kaczynski has seen in his own revision practice. Good plans versus great plans One of the salient themes in Dr Kaczynski’s curriculum is the distance between a competent treatment plan and an excellent one. “Full-arch dental implants may look relatively straightforward from a surgical perspective, but they’re far from simple. e key to success lies in treatment planning – this is where most complications actually begin if not done properly.” He cautions against a tendency he sees across the eld. “Full-arch solutions are sometimes treated as a ‘one-size- ts-all’ approach, which is a mistake. Every case is di erent.” His approach is patient-centred and evidence-based – focused on outcomes that are predictable and reproducible. The mindset shift that follows Fellowship 3 does more than expand technique – it reframes what is clinically possible. “One of the most common things they mention is a real shift in mindset,” Dr Kaczynski says. “Treating single or partial cases is very di erent from managing fullarch reconstructions.” “Techniques like tilted implants, palatal approaches, pterygoid implants, and others open up a whole new range of possibilities.
