CATEGORY 24 AUSTRALASIAN DENTIST EV NTS D ental Update 2022 provides an exceptional opportunity to learn from six leading experts as they highlight developments and progress in their fields. Each of the presenters at DU2022 is a keynote presenter in their own right, bringing an unparalleled wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience. The two day event sees Dr Anthony Mak, Professor Chris Peck, Professor Richard Logan, Dr Barbara Woodhouse, Dr Glen Weston and Professor Ian Meyers combine to present this outstanding event in the fine surroundings of the Brisbane Hilton Hotel Friday and Saturday, 26-27 August 2022. Restorative Dentistry, Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery and Endodontics are just a sample of the diversity of important updates that will be presented. On Day 1 Dr Anthony Mak will detail restorative management approaches for patients presenting with a worn dentition and further considers specific restorative management approaches for cracked teeth in a separate session. Endodontist, Dr Glen Weston is due to present the approaches that he takes in day to day clinical practice, also considering single versus multiple visit root canal treatment as well as approaches to negotiating calcified canals. The essential Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology Update 2022 will be given by Professor Richard Logan in the final session on Day 1. Aetiology and the presentation of common mucosal oral pathology, links between systemic disease and oral pathology, limitations of diagnostic tests and the management of common mucosal pathology will be considered. Orofacial pain and TMD present significant clinical challenges and management approaches will be showcased by Professor Chris Peck on Day 2. Topics include the approaches for the immediate management of pain as well as the dental practitioner’s role in chronic pain management. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr Barbara Woodhouse will share her expertise and techniques for biopsy techniques, distinguishing malignant versus benign features and when to incise, when to excise and how to close the defect. The final two sessions for the event are due to be presented by Professor IanMeyers OAM looking at restorative materials and technique. Thereafter his second session focuses on gerodontics, oral health and the ageing population and developing appropriate oral health plans.
