Built around the central theme, bringing dentistry disciplines together for optimal patient care, the program has been developed under the leadership of Dr Susan Wise, the Vice-President of the RACDS and a specialist periodontist based in Melbourne. “Our aim is to provide valuable, educational content for all attendees, and this will cover different facets of dentistry. Through lectures from esteemed international and national speakers, the sharing of knowledge and critical thinking will be invaluable for clinical dental practice,” says Dr Wise. Held every two years, RACDS has now been running this conference for 50 years. The event has a proud history of bringing together the world’s leading experts in dental practice to drive improvements in patient management and outcomes. For the first time ever, the Conference will be held as a hybrid event, allowing our international delegates the opportunity to tune in live as well as access content long after the conference finishes. The Fine Edge of Dentistry 2022 Conference has been designed so that nearly every field of modern dentistry is represented. The program is action-packed and has been structured to ensure that each component is either of interest, or relevant, to every attendee. This year, we are excited to announce the co-locationofTheFineEdge of Dentistry with the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS) Annual Scientific Meeting. The co-hosting of these industry leading events will bring you exceptional local and international speakers, more networking than ever before and a unique opportunity to leverage the key learning and powerful combination of general and specialty dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial surgery. “One of the highlights of this year’s program will be keynote speaker, Charlotte Stilwell, all the way from London, United Kingdom. She’ll be talking about prosthodontics for removable conventional reconstructions on teeth and implant-supported reconstructions, and gerodontology from a practitioner perspective,” says Dr Wise. Charlotte Stilwell is President of the ITI, a global association of professionals in implant dentistry which has more than 18,000 Fellows and Members worldwide. Charlotte is the first female president of this extremely prestigious organisation. In addition to this, the program also includes conjoint lectures with ANZAOMS from Dr Philip Tan, Dr Dimitrios Nikolarakos, Dr Greg Goodman and Prof Mithran Goonewardene. Dr Amanda PhoonNguyendiscusses oral infections and diseases that may be transmitted by kissing or other sexual contact and Prof Louise Brown takes attendees through a practical case-based lecture which focuses upon interpretation of panoramic and CBCT images, and guidance for distinguishing artefacts from normal anatomical variation and from pathological lesions within the dento-maxillofacial region. On a personal level, Dr Wise has enjoyed the experience of pulling together this industry-leading event. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Convocation Organising Committee and coordinating the programand speakers for 2022. I’m thrilled that our program this year includes somany exceptional speakers lecturing on thought-provoking and noteworthy topics,” says Dr Wise. With at least 300 people expected to descend on the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins this September, it’s an event that shouldn’t be missed. u FIND OUT MORE – www.racds2022.com.au Bringing dentistry disciplines together for optimal patient care Don’t miss The Fine Edge of Dentistry conference this September
