The compact Rhondair S3 system comes with a flexible venting kit and is ready to be wall mounted and vented externally. It can also be installed into the ceiling cavity of a practice and vented externally. For those dental surgeries where it is not practicable to vent externally there is a Rhondair version which can be placed on the floor or wall mounted and includes the powerful fan and a Medical Grade 13 HEPA filter which captures 99.95% or more of all particles including COVID-19. This system can be used during treatments with an extraction funnel for at source aerosol capture or between patients to purify air and shorten fallow periods. For HVAC systems, at a bare minimum, this means asking for a suitably experienced engineer to produce a customised HVAC report for your office and installing a system that changes the air a set number of times per hour. Negative air pressure means constantly extracting air out of the room (so air does not escape back into the corridor) and at a bare minimum replacing it with air that is heated and filtered. Installing and commissioning a suitably qualified installer or a builder and electrician to cut holes in the roof and install a system can be an expensive and time- consuming exercise. Quotes for installing office wide systems can reach anywhere between $10,000 per room to $100,000 – or even more for full office systems. It is also possible to do-it-yourself and one handyman dentist we spoke with said it cost him $1,000 and several hours of work cutting holes in walls and ceilings during the weekend, plus an electrician to wire it. Perhaps another more convenient option is a Plug and play system such as the Rhondair S3. The Rhondair system is a ready- to-go affordable solution designed to create a negative pressure room in your surgery. The powerful industrial fan can draw 4,000L/min resulting in ~20 air changes per hour in the Negative air pressure rooms and incoming regulations – how these will affect your dental practice Dental aerosol generating procedures (AGP’s) and aerosol build up is a hot topic right now. Regulatory and government bodies are working through a set of new regulations relating to negative air pressure rooms and air changes. As of the time of writing we don’t yet have confirmation of what these new rules will look like and the legislation varies by country and state so it pays to check what is applicable in your territory. However, it is likely that our regulations will mimic the UK and require a minimum of 10 air changes per hour. On the 22nd of October the Australian Dental Association (ADA) released the Risk Management Principles for dentistry. On the 3rd of November the Ministry of Health and the NZ Dental Council released Guidelines for Oral Health Practitioners. What seems clear is dentists will be required to install some form of engineering control to manage aerosol risks as part of a documented risk management plan. PPE, fallow periods between patients, screening and a set number of air changes per hour look to become the standard basic control measures. If you’ve held back on investing in air change solutions, now is a good time to start thinking about how you will adapt to these regulations. The front running options are Ultimate Freedom comes not from just a wireless scanner, but true end-to- end workflows It’s all about freedom: Freedom from wires, freedom to offer different treatment options and the freedom to partner with any third- party to provide care for patients. That’s the freedom that comes with the new CS 3800 intraoral scanner and its comprehensive workflow options. Freedom from cables The CS 3800 is one of the lightest and most compact and reliable wireless scanners on the market. Designed in collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche, its slim, cordless design makes it easier to hold and gives users a more comfortable scanning experience. To make it easier to capture interproximal areas and subgingival margins and improve soft tissue scanning, the CS 3800’s field of view (FOV) has been enlarged to 16 mm x 14 mm. This new increased FOV makes scanning edentulous patients even smoother. With a 21 mm depth of field, the CS 3800 can better capture emergence profiles, deep margins and post spaces to improve image quality. For freedom to travel from operatory to operatory, the scanner can be combined with the new CS Voyager trolley* and AIO medical- grade computer* for optimal mobility. The CS 3800 joins the CS 3700 and CS 3600 as the flagship scanner in Carestream Dental’s intraoral scanning portfolio. All three scanners’ intuitive interfaces make them ideal for any doctor looking to start their digital workflow journey. Freedom to offer different treatment This latest generation of scanner is more than just a high-performance digital impression device—it’s the first step to the ultimate freedom that a true end-to-end workflow allows. The scanner’s powerful software, CS ScanFlow 1.0.4, includes indications for restorations, implant-borne restorations, orthodontics, sleep devices and, new with this latest release of the software, dentures, giving doctors the ability to provide treatment for more patients no matter their clinical needs. Once an impression is captured, it can be seamlessly exported from CS ScanFlow to any number of platforms or modules: CS Model+ v5 for orthodontic treatment planning and designing clear aligner models, the Prosthetic- driven Implant Planning module for implant planning or Swissmeda for designing surgical guides, to name just a few. This latest version of the software—first introduced with the CS 3700 intraoral scanner—gives practices the freedom to choose the configuration that works best for them. A standard version of the software is available with the scanner, but clinicians have the the ability to upgrade to a more premium version as the needs of the practice grows. new Products from Carestream Dental
