102 Australasian Dentist company profile U nlike many other health professionals, general and specialist dentists enjoy the privilege of providing diagnostic imaging within their practices under their direct supervision, including OPG and periapical radiography as well as cone beam CT. There may be instances when a practitioner identifies an unusual appearance within a study where the nature of the finding is unclear. O-RAD provides a safe and secure online reporting service for imaging performed at dental practices and also government based oral health services. Historically, some practitioners prefer that all their OPGs and CBCT scans are reported by an oral and maxillofacial radiologist. O-RAD can also accommodate this, giving the practitioner peace of mind that any pathology within the field of view is identified, including regions beyond the area of interest and the jaws. Skills and experience O-RAD has a highly experienced and well trained team of five AHPRA registered oral and maxillofacial radiologists, who have collectively reported in access of 600,000 radiological studies. This team is led by Clin Prof Bernard Koong, carrying forward the lineage of Dr Harry Worth and Prof Michael Pharoah of the University of Toronto, often referred to within the oral and maxillofacial radiology profession as the cradle of interpretive radiology. Their skill sets extend beyond plain film and CBCT, including multislice CT and MRI, which is critical in guiding clinicians when addition imaging is required. O-RAD is powered by Envision Medical Imaging, giving this team direct support of an experienced team of four head & neck/neuroradiologists. Clinically relevant concise reports provided efficiently Every study is thoroughly evaluated in entirety by one of O-RAD’s oral and maxillofacial radiologists. At O-RAD, every challenging case initiates a second or third opinion, with no additional associ- ated fee. This team approach brings the skills and experience of the entire group together for the benefit of the practitioner and patient. O-RAD understands that practitioners are busy and therefore aims to provide succinct and accurate reports focusing concisely on clinically relevant findings. More unusual appearances requiring explanations are also included. This team of five oral and maxillofacial radiologists ensures continuity of service with no down time. The standard turnaround time for reports is 5 working days although the vast majority are completed within 1-2 days. As a part of the service, an O-RAD oral and maxillofacial radiologist can be immediately contacted by phone to discuss a medically urgent case. 24 hour turnaround of urgent written reports can also be requested. Availability An O-RAD oral and maxillofacial radiologist is always available to you over the phone to discuss one of your referred cases. O-RAD sup- ports the importance of the multidisciplinary team approach and di- rect communications between the clinician/surgeon and radiologist can significantly improve outcome. This service is complimentary. File sharing with other practioners/specialists A common challenge with imaging provided within individual dental practices is the transfer of studies to other practitioners and specialists. In line with O-RAD’s multidisciplinary approach, all scans reported by O-RAD will be stored and securely made available online to the requesting practitioner as well as any other practitioner involved in the patient’s management. The specialist referral process is therefore made much easier, where the specialist can easily access the radiologist’s report and entire scan data set online. A free online image viewing software is available for data interrogation. Reconstruction and reformatting cbct data While many practitioners prefer to view the fine slice data set using viewing software they are familiar with, others prefer reconstructed images for situations such as implant planning and third molar surgery. Upon request, O-RAD will reconstruct images of the site of interest which will then be accessible online. Assistance with technical issues For those who select O-RAD’s complete service, complimentary technical advice can be provided over the phone. Please refer to www.orad.com.au for details. Cost O-RAD provides a few different service models depending on the needs of the practitioner. A reduced fee is applied for those who prefer all their scans to be reported by the O-RAD team. A customized service can also be arranged for those with more unique operational structures and government institutions. u www.orad.com.au ORAD www.orad.com.au A new national online dental, oral and maxillofacial radiology reporting service
