24 AustrÀlÀsiÀn Dentist pro tÀ Universal Restorative New Universal Restorative to make dentists’ life simpler NEW composite from 3M ensures strong and aesthetic restorations while simplifying the shading process to improve productivity. For busy dental professionals, a variety of responsibilities and tasks make staying on schedule a challenge. Implementing time- saving products and procedures is crucial to meeting these daily demands and even simple changes can make a significant difference. In order to help dentists increase efficiencies, 3M introduces 3M™ Filtek™ Universal Restorative – a new universal composite that offers a modernised approach to anterior and posterior restorations, with a simplified shading process and advanced composite technology to provide strong and aesthetic results. On average, dentists choose to use a single-shade restoration for roughly 80 percent of the cases they perform*. Knowing efficiency is key 3M has simplified the overall shade selection process. and developed eight simple designer shades, plus an Extra White (XW) that cover the 19 VITA classical and bleach shades 1 . A Pink Opaquer has also been created to mask metal and stained dentition. In addition, the shades have one universal opacity to meet most clinical needs. Science and collaboration are at the heart of everything 3M create; Filtek Universal Restorative combines multiple technologies into one overall approach called “NaturalMatch” to allow matching composite shades to the shade of the tooth. Propriety low-stress monomers reduce shrinkage stress, while use of nanofillers creates a true nanocomposite that provides1 high strength, aesthetics and excellent wear resistance. Filtek Universal Restorative also features capsules that can be warmed and an improved tip design that allows the material to extrude like a flowable composite, and then become more viscous for shaping. At 8 mm, the tip is longer than our previous universal capsules, which enables good adaptation even in hard to reach areas. “Dentists are pulled in many different directions every day, with countless to-dos that stack up while they serve their patients. That’s why 3M wanted to create a solution that helps them cut down on steps and remove some of that stress,” said Sebastian Arana, President & General Manager, Oral Solutions Division of 3M. “The new Filtek Universal Restorative combines a unique shading system in an innovative material that not only provides efficiency but a highly aesthetic and long- lasting result.” To learn more about the new 3M Filtek Universal Restorative visit: 3M .com.au/FiltekUniversal * À 3M Market Àesearch, January 2018 ( , Àussia, ÀK, Brazil, Germany) 1.À 3M Data on File Àew Àroducts from 3M Àral Care Bio Protect is stocking a new biodegradable disposable cup At Bio Protect we have been promising to find a new biodegradable disposable plastic cup for a long time. Up to now, we have had our corn starch biodegradable cups which many of our customers have loved, however, some customers were not happy due to an odour they detected due to the corn starch and also the fact that the cups didn’t fit well into a cup dispenser. We have been researching to find a better biodegradable alternative without an increased cost. Our new range of Eco-smart cups is available in clear or white plastic and fit well into most dispensers. As is the same with all our plastics barrier and disposable items, these cups are made of plastic and with an additive ingredient which will accelerate the biodegradation process, and, there is no odour. The price remains the same as the current price of the corn starch cups. The cups are available in a sleeve of 50 cups, or a carton of 1000 cups (20 sleeves of 50 ) Eco-Smart®additive allows plastic to biodegrade through a series of chemical and biological processes, when introduced to a microbe-rich environment such as a biologically active modern landfill. Eco-Smart® accelerates the biodegradation of treated plastics by attracting microbes – microscopic organisms vital to the earth’s ecosystem. These microbes colonise on the surface of the plastic where they secrete acids that break down the polymer chain, allowing them to utilise the carbon backbone of the chain as an energy source. The difference between Eco- Smart®treated plastic and traditional plastic is that Eco-Smart®creates an opportunity for microbes to use plastic as food. The latest information provided by Eco- smart -Updated: 25 March 2019 *Eco-Smart polypropylene cups have been shown to biodegrade 56.9% after 2.96 years; under conditions that simulate a wetter biologically active landfill, using the ASTM D5511 standard test. Note that a stated rate of degradation does not mean the product will continue to decompose. Testing continues on all Eco-Smart products to track the rate of biodegradation. “We are just really happy to be able to provide a better alternative for the abundance of disposable cups made from regular plastic which are used in the many water dispensers in surgeries and offices and in our every patient use in our surgeries.” To view our full range of products and place an order on line visit wwww.bio-protect.com.au Orders can also be placed via phone or email.
