Australasian Dentist Issue 89
Category 80 AustrAlAsiAn Dentist we proceeded with a guided surgical implant placement with simultaneous ethOss graft (0.5cc) and a premilled custom healing abutment (images 4-13). there are two major benefits of grafting with ethOss in combination with the custom healing abutment: 1. Apically advance the keratinised gingiva, this manages the buccal soft tissue defect without the need for soft tissue grafting and the co-morbidities associated with graft harvest sites. 2. using an ethOss buccal veneer graft to turnover into new host bone to support the new position of the gingiva. Conclusion using the Cervico custom healing abutment at the time of placement alongside ethOss enabled us to develop this site as shown in a single surgery. this protocol complements our philosophy for improving patient treatment and experience. the results at 6 months (image 14 & 15) show a stable site which will continue to improve in the long-term as the ethOss is resorbed and replaced with regenerated host bone. Bone regeneration – EthOss Patient History this patient presented with a mobile deciduous e (images 1 & 2). there was a clear buccal soft tissue defect and options for improving this were discussed. Treatment & procedure thanks to the nature the deciduous e (loss of root form) the alveolar ridge below the crown was well healed (picture 3) offering ideal primary stability and presenting a suitable case for a custom healing abutment using the Cervico system. 6 weeks was allowed for soft tissue maturation post extraction.
