24 AUSTRALASIAN DENTIST EVENTS There is nowhere in the world like Antarctica. I love wilderness in all its forms, but the vastness and sheer remoteness of the Antarctic is truly unique. It’s the abundance of wildlife with its almost complete indifference to humans. It’s the tiny outposts with their fascinating history – and it’s the grandeur of this amazing place. The Antarctic was my second event travelling solo with Unconventional Conventions, and I was once again greatly impressed with the quality of presenters. I caught up with a few friends from the previous trip, and met other fantastic people for the first time, several of whom remain close friends to this day. Sharing experiences outside of the dental realm brought us all closer together, far more so than at any other type of conference I have attended. Many evenings were spent in discussion of both seals and sealants, enjoying good food and drink all the while. All of the presenters were extremely approachable, and opportunities to discuss concepts further proved invaluable. The post conference tour experience was a wonderful opportunity to wind down with friends old and new. It was a fantastic way to round off the trip.
