106 AUSTRALASIAN DENTIST C M Y CM MY CY CMY K SOFTWARE Cloudcomputinghasbecome thedefault option for application deployment as IT disciplines get increasingly Cloudcentric. Just ask any tech-savvy dentist and they would attest to expensive IT servers going the way of the dinosaur. That said, on-premise dental practice management software (PMS) remain popular, whether the server is being managed in-house or outsourced to an IT provider. What are the differences between the two platforms and what do they actually mean to the average dental clinic or group practice? Ben Flewett, Managing Director, UK, Ireland and Asia Pacific, Henry Schein One, offers some practical insights. Two options from One Henry Schein One is one of the world’s leading providers of dental practice management software and solutions. One of the flagship products of Henry Schein One, in Asia Pacific and the UK is the EXACT dental software, which has been powering dental practices for over 30 years. The on-premise software is designed to give dentists the tools and data they need to improve the patient experience and make their practices more profitable. In 2020, the company acquired Dentally, the market leading Cloud-enabled software, which launched in Australia in 2021. “Of course, practices first have a choice between our solution and others in the market,” Flewett says, when asked where he stands on the Cloud versus Onpremise divide. “A Cloud-based product allows practices to streamline processes and stay connected to their patients, through automated communication tools, patient experience solutions such as online appointment booking and medical history admin. While On-premise solutions may cover these features to some extent, they often work in a less agile way for dentists today.” The customer’s journey With a mission to turn good practices into great businesses, Henry Schein One’s innovative software solutions enable dental practices to run efficiently, profitably and deliver quality patient care. As the latter objective ranks pretty high on a dentist’s priority list, Flewett avers, it would make a good starting point. “In terms of customer journey, a traditional visit to a dental practice involves calling the practice to book an appointment, filling out paper forms on arrival, and interacting with staff onpremise,” he compares. “Cloud-based practices offer a different experience, where patients can access a fast and responsive online booking system and complete their medical history forms at home. “Practices can also gather feedback and offer surveys before the appointment, capturing data that will help create a more Cloud for the future From improved patient engagement and seamless integration with third-party systems, to hassle-free management and enhanced data security, find out why the Cloud might be the right choice for your practice management system.
