CATEGORY 6 AUSTRALASIAN DENTIST NEWS In the past, fast sintering of zirconia materials often involved compromises in mechanical or aesthetic properties. With the innovative IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime block, you can now offer your patients both the reliability of high flexural strength and an aesthetically pleasing result A masterpiece for greater efficiency in your practice Efficiency is the key to success in the fabrication of fixed restorations in a single session. The material properties of IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime enable speed sintering of restorations in the combination furnace Programat® CS6 in just 15 minutes1 – without compromising on aesthetics. The shorter sintering times meet the demand for an accelerated practice workflow, saving valuable time for you, your team and your patients. Along with providing an enhanced patient experience, you can boost your productivity by spending less time on the fabrication of individual restorations. Proven high-strength material properties for greater confidence With a biaxial strength of 1,100 MPa2, the new zirconia block allows for the fabrication of robust and durable restorations in the anterior and posterior regions. The material is particularly suitable for crowns in regions exposed to high chewing forces, such as premolars and molars. This property reduces the risk of cracks and fractures significantly, thereby enhancing confidence – for both you and your patients. The high material strength allows for a reduction in wall thicknesses to 0.8mm for crowns, enabling conservative preparation and preserving more natural tooth structure for your patients. A block that combines aesthetics and versatility The natural progression of shade and translucency from the dentine to the incisal edge3 allows IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime zirconia restorations to be effortlessly designed without the need for applying elaborate final characterisation with stains. The progression of shade and translucency can be adapted to the neighbouring teeth by moving the position of the crown within the block during the design phase. Positioning the crown higher up in the block results in more translucency and brightness in the incisal area, while moving the crown towards the dentine area of the block ensures good opacity, allowing even discoloured natural tooth structure to be concealed effectively. The material is available in eleven shades, ranging from classic tooth shades to Bleach shades. A new “0“shade was developed for patients who desire a brighter result than A1. With its reduced pigment content, the 0 shade results in restorations appear less greyish compared to Bleach shades, bridging the gap between Bleach shades and shade A1. The finishing options for IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime restorations are versatile: They can be polished, glazed or characterised, depending on the specific case. High gloss polishing in no time The new OptraGloss® Extra Oral is a universal, two-step polishing set for extraoral application, complemented by an optional polishing paste. The polishers are ideal for finishing oxide and glass-ceramics such as IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime, IPS e.max CAD and Empress CAD. From unpolished restoration to a high gloss in just a few minutes regardless of the restoration’s surface structure or characteristics and offer a faster alternative to glaze firing. Coordinated efficient CAD/CAM chairside workflow The IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime block uses innovative material technology that makes the process of creating monolithic zirconia restorations fast and efficient throughout the entire workflow – from fabrication to cementation. In the Programat CS6 combination furnace, the short sintering times accelerate the entire CAD/CAM zirconia workflow significantly (15 minutes1). The choice of the cement is a crucial factor for the smooth completion of a restoration in a single session. Cementing IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime restorations with a self-adhesive (e.g. Speedcem® Plus) or adhesive (e.g. Variolink® Esthetic) provides quick excess removal and easy application of the cement ensuring predictable cementation results, regardless of the patient case. In addition, cementation protocols can also be chosen apart from the conventional method, depending on the clinical situation and the dentist’s preference. The perfectly coordinated products from Ivoclar support you in achieving an even smoother and more efficient treatment workflow for the fabrication of IPS e.max ZirCAD Prime restorations in a single session.
